Latter Day Bride Photographer’s Challenge | The Seraphina
Latter Day Bride Photographer’s Challenge | The Seraphina
I entered the Latter Day Bride Photographer’s Challenge in December. I saw a post on Facebook about the contest and thought it would be a fun way to challenge my creativity in January. The way the contest works is that you apply to be in the contest and then Latter Day Bride chooses 10 photographers. Each photographer uses the same dress and plans a shoot around that dress. To my surprise, I was picked to be one of the photographers competing.
The dress for this installment of the photographer’s challenge was The Seraphina. I don’t know a ton about styles of wedding dresses or technical terms, but to me, the dress looked modern. I figured everyone would shoot in a forest or something with snow, but I wanted to shoot somewhere modern that would fit the dress. I decided on the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork because I felt like the architecture would compliment the modern-ness of the dress perfectly.
Next I had to find a bouquet. Because we were shooting in the of winter and I was going for a more modern look, I wanted a dead bouquet. Marianne from Bushel and a Peck Floral Design did NOT disappoint. The bouquet was incredible and was everything I imagined for the shoot.
I also decided I wanted modern, clay style earrings for the shoot. My sweet model Nidhi had the perfect ones that completed her outfit perfectly.
The day of the shoot was cold and snowy. In fact, we almost didn’t shoot because of it, but we decided to brave the snow and I’m SO glad we did. I loved the detail that the falling snow flakes added. They were beautiful and complimented the winter shoot perfectly.
How does the Latter Day Bride Photographer’s Challenge Work?
Once the session was shot I had to choose my FAVORITE image to submit. That was such a hard choice but I settled on this one:
Then, Latter Day Bride would share all the images from the 10 photographers and let their followers and the public vote on their favorite images via Instagram. The voting lasted for about 2.5 days and was so nerve wracking.
Surprisingly I won! I was SO excited and so grateful for the sweet comments about this shoot. It’s been so fun to put together and I was just so grateful for the opportunity!
Thank you to everyone that made this shoot possible and that voted for me. Thank you thank you!!

Hi, I'm Kayla!
I’m Kayla, owner and photographer. I started this business as a side hustle to pay for my college tuition and am so grateful for how much it’s grown. It’s such a privilege to be able to shoot with my clients, year after year. I can’t wait to work with your family!
