5 Pictures to take to Celebrate the Easter Season
5 Pictures to take to Celebrate the Easter Season
- Dying eggs with your kiddos – I love capturing my kid’s creativity and interests each year through their different decorating ideas for their eggs. This year my daughter’s eggs will all probably be kittens and I can’t wait to capture them to remember this fun stage with her.
Tip: Try to find natural light to photograph the eggs in. Avoid dark shadows and harsh, florescent lights. Shooting during the day hours is best.
- Easter dinner – Many families gather on Easter for a feast. Snap a few pictures of everything and everyone together as a heritage photo to pass down to your kids.
Tip: Try to snag the picture before everyone starts eating so that the table is still nicely put together and everyone is there.
- Hunting for eggs – There is nothing better than kids hunting for eggs. Don’t forget to get a few shots of the kiddos running around the yard and fighting off siblings or cousins to snatch an egg.
Tip: I love to toggle back and forth on my phone between taking pictures and videos. My kids love watching videos of themselves and Easter morning is the perfect time to make a home video.
- Kiddos with their baskets – Again, this is another way to capture their different interests. You’ll be able to look back on this picture and based on what was in their basket, you’ll be able to remember some of the things they loved and were interested in.
Tip: Get this shot before they break into their baskets. Make them be patient and get them all together.
- Easter best family picture – This is my favorite picture you have to take. It’s a heritage shot that your family needs. Have everyone dress in their Easter best (whatever that might look like for you) and take a picture in the front yard together. This is a classic Easter tradition and is a great way to see your family grow and change throughout the years.
I take pictures of my kiddos each Easter Sunday and love being able to see how they change from year to year. I also have pictures of myself on Easter Sunday. But my favorite pictures are from my parent’s childhood. I have some pictures of my Mom on Easter Sunday and that is just such a special keepsake.
Tip: Have everyone in the yard with the sun to the side (if possible) and have a neighbor or friend take your picture and then swap with them. Or, use a tripod.
You don’t have to use a fancy camera or make any of these shots a big production, just capture the moments to celebrate the Easter season.
