Lover of JOY and Bright Images | My Editing Style | Utah Photographer
One of my favorite parts about being a Utah Photographer is the editing. I absolutely love bringing an image to life through editing.
My focus when editing has always been to keep the image coloring true to life and bright. I love images full of JOY and bright color. I focus on shooting an image with the proper exposure so that my job in the post process (editing) is as easy as can be. My editing process is combined into a simple preset that I apply to each image. This preset consists of brighting, sharpening, and softening various parts of the image. Below you can see before and after of my editing process on images. The left image is the RAW file (straight out of camera) and the right image is the edited version.
I edit my work in Adobe Lightroom and cull images using Photomechanic. To edit a typical session it takes me about 30-45 minutes from start to finish. Honestly the longest part is just importing and exporting the images.
I’ve refined my editing over the years, but have always strived to stay as true to color as possible. Right now, there is a huge trend to over saturate images with brown and orange tones. It’s a “dark and moody” edit. It’s SO popular right now and tons of brides and families are booking photographers that offer that style of imagery and as such, many photographers are changing their style to match the trend. But I whole heartedly believed that while trends come and go, a cleaners and more natural style is timeless. Plus, I don’t think any wedding day or family really is dark and moody. I think they are full of joy and love and I love to bring that out with the tones and way I edit.

Hi, I'm Kayla!
I’m Kayla, owner and photographer. I started this business as a side hustle to pay for my college tuition and am so grateful for how much it’s grown. It’s such a privilege to be able to shoot with my clients, year after year. I can’t wait to work with your family!
