Best Fall Photo Shoot Locations in Utah

When you live in a place as beautiful as Utah, choosing a fall photo shoot location that truly captures this state’s autumnal beauty can be a bit overwhelming. There are just so many incredible places to choose from! Luckily, we’ve selected four outdoor locations that are perfect for any upcoming fall shoot. These tried and true locales are hand chosen by Kayla for their phenomenal light, easy accessibility, and breathtaking beauty.

Don’t forget, there are a limited number of spots available for Kayla’s fall mini sessions. Let Kayla capture your family’s unique personality in a quick 15 minute session set in the hills of Herriman on October 24th and 25th, or at Jolly’s Ranch in Hobble Creek Canyon on October 14th. You’ll receive at least 20 edited images delivered in a convenient online gallery. Book your session today.

Fall Photos in the Herriman Hills

One of Kayla’s personal favorites, the hills of Herriman offer wide expanses and beautiful colors. The stunning combination of the warm, dry grasses and the cool blue sage brush is exquisite. If you’re taking pictures here, consider dressing in a color palette similar to this lovely family.

Autumn at Jordan Pines

The Jordan Pines campground features impressive pine trees and a canyon backdrop that’s unreal. Pair that with its incredible convenience — it’s located about 15 minutes up Big Cottonwood canyon — and you have one perfect fall photo shoot location. However, this is far from an undiscovered gem, so be prepared to face the crowds. One last pro-tip, park near the highway and hike down into the valley area about two hours before sunset for perfect lighting.

Utah Fall Photo Shoot at Loch Lomond Pond

Loch Lomond Pond — also known as Shoreline Park — is a great photo spot located along the north shoreline of Utah Lake in Saratoga Springs. This spot is easy to get to, and it’s relatively unknown. The warm light, abundant fall foliage, and soft pond-side reeds make this location perfect for fall family pictures.

Photo Shoot at Doughnut Falls Trailhead

To get to the Doughnut Falls trailhead, drive about nine miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Mill D Trailhead. From there, you’ll take a right towards the Jordan Pines campground, and then follow the signs for Doughnut Falls. This location is especially nice in mid to late September when the leaves are just starting to change colors. With large boulders, pretty pines, and those golden leafed Aspen trees, this spot is an absolute dream.

Hi, I'm Kayla!

I’m Kayla, owner and photographer. I started this business as a side hustle to pay for my college tuition and am so grateful for how much it’s grown. It’s such a privilege to be able to shoot with my clients, year after year. I can’t wait to work with your family!
