Tucked inside Big Cottonwood Canyon, Jordan Pines is one of my favorite Utah locations for families who want beautiful scenery without taking the focus away from the people they love most.

Jordan Pines has such a great mix of scenery. Tall evergreens, mountain views, open grassy areas, and changing fall colors give us plenty of variety during one session. It feels unmistakably Utah and creates a gorgeous backdrop for both playful moments and those classic family portraits you’ll want framed in your home.

Fall is especially beautiful here. The cooler temperatures make sessions more comfortable, and the changing leaves add warm tones that photograph beautifully. Because fall color in the mountains can come and go quickly, I always recommend planning your session early.

What to Wear for Your Family Photos

You don’t need everyone to match! Instead, choose colors that coordinate. Warm neutrals, soft earth tones, creams, browns, muted greens, and deeper fall colors all look beautiful at Jordan Pines. Layers and different textures can also add interest without making outfits feel too busy.

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable in — especially shoes you can easily walk around in.
