How We Got Engaged | Utah Engagements
Five years ago, today, my husband and I got engaged. We had dated in high school and the summer after he graduated. We wrote all through his 2 year LDS mission in Philadelphia and then two months after he got home we got engaged.
My birthday is on December 22nd so I was POSITIVE he would propose on my birthday. I was so sure, but on December 20th I showed up to work at 8am and there was a giant box on my desk. I got super excited that one of my co-workers had left me a Christmas gift. I took the lid off of the box and inside was another box. I was a little confused but went with it. I opened the next box and there was ANOTHER box. So I opened the last box and found a photo book inside. To my surprise, it was a book of photos of my boyfriend/missionary/husband and I. I looked through them and started to tear up. At the end, was a note from my sweet boy. He talked about our relationship and love and asked me to marry him. When I looked up from the book there he was. He walked over to me and got down on one knee. Holding the ring out to me I looked at him and all I could say was “what are you doing here?” It was so different than I had planned. I had never imagined he would propose to me AT WORK! I told him YES (of course. If you know us this was a long time coming). He got up and kissed me and then slipped the ring on my hand. It was the most beautiful pearl ring with a white gold band. I had wanted a pearl ring so badly and he had completely surprised me. I loved it!
