Provo Balloon Festival | How to take Amazing Pictures

The Provo Balloon Festival is such a fun Fourth of July tradition. On the morning of the 4th-6th of July at 6am pilots ignite and inflate beautiful hot air balloons. It’s an amazing experience to watch as the giant balloons fill with air and then take off into the sky. And it’s an amazing photo opp. Here are some tips to take amazing pictures at the Provo Balloon Festival:

  1. Face the sun when the sun is low: as the sun is rising, lighting might be difficult. Rather than bring your exposure wayyyy up, have your subject(s) face the sun so that there is plenty of light on them.
  2. Use unique angles: Over 25 THOUSAND people attend the balloon festival, so it will be crowded. Shoot at unique angles to get shots will less people in them.
  3. Follow the rule of thirds: Keep your subject obvious by shooting with the rule of thirds.

Hi, I'm Kayla!

I’m Kayla, owner and photographer. I started this business as a side hustle to pay for my college tuition and am so grateful for how much it’s grown. It’s such a privilege to be able to shoot with my clients, year after year. I can’t wait to work with your family!
