Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms | Utah Photographer
It’s that time of year and I just can’t wait! I’ve had SO many questions about the Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms, so here are a couple of things to know about shooting at the Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms.
1) The Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms Only Last 2 Weeks
The blossoms go just as quickly as they come. Once the blossoms bloom, you typically have about 2 weeks to visit them and take pictures. If there is a big storm during that two weeks some of the blossoms may be damaged. They don’t last long, but they sure are pretty while they last!
2) The Capitol is a Mad House
During the two weeks of the Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms the whole area around the capitol is a mad house! There are people everywhere. Especially during the evening when photographers are their doing pictures. Just be mentally prepared to take turns in front of the blossoms and to be aware of others.
3) Shooting at the Capitol can be a little tricky
Shooting at the capitol can be a little tricky. The blossoms don’t block out the light in the same ways that leaves do. In fact, they are hard to shoot in. Ensure that your photographer knows how to shoot in blossoms by looking at their work from previous blossom sessions. Also, because there are SO many people up at the capitol, your photographer may have to wait for crowds or edit people out of images in post production. Most photographers can easily edit out a person, but just make sure yours is comfortable with the amount of time that might take.
