Family Photos with Boys in Utah | Three Brothers in Golden Fall Color

Three little brothers, a canyon full of golden aspens, and a whole lot of energy. If you have ever wondered whether family photos with boys in Utah can actually feel easy and fun, this fall session is your answer. Mom, Dad, and their three boys brought the giggles, the hugs, and the cutest coordinated sweaters.

Family Photos with Boys: Keep It Moving

Boys usually do not want to stand still and say cheese, and that’s okay! My lifestyle sessions are built around movement and play. We race down the trail, have brother squeeze contests, tell a few silly jokes, and let the real smiles happen. A little bit of direction plus a lot of freedom gives you photos that look like your family, not a stiff pose.

We started with a few classic family-of-five shots while everyone was fresh. Getting the must-have photo for Grandma’s wall early takes the pressure off, so the rest of the session can be pure fun.

Brothers Being Brothers

Brother photos are some of my favorite moments in any session. Arms slung around shoulders, a little bit of wiggling, and the youngest trying his best to keep up with the big boys. These are the images that capture how they fit together right now, and they change so fast.

Then each boy got a quick portrait of his own. I love catching those big, genuine grins and the little personality that shines through when it’s just them and the camera for a minute.

Dad and His Boys, Plus a Moment for Mom and Dad

A dad-and-sons photo is always on my list for families with boys. It’s one of those images that becomes more meaningful every single year. And I always save a few minutes at the end for Mom and her husband, because you deserve photos of the two of you, too.

Outfit Ideas for Family Photos with Boys in Utah

This family’s palette was perfect for golden aspens: burnt orange and sage green sweaters on the boys, a tan cable-knit on Dad, and a cream knit with wide-leg denim on Mom. Here’s how to get the same warm, coordinated look:

  • Pick one bold color (like burnt orange) and one softer color (like sage), then let the boys trade them so they coordinate without matching.
  • Choose cozy textures like cable-knits, henleys, and pullovers. They look great and keep the boys warm in the canyon.
  • Jeans are always a win for boys. They’re comfy, they’re durable, and they tie the whole family together.
  • Wear shoes everyone can run and climb in, because there will be running!
