Golden Hour Aspen Family Photos in Utah | A Sweet Fall Session for Three
Golden aspens, a winding gravel trail, and that glowy evening light that makes everything look like honey. This late-October session in a Utah canyon caught the aspens right at their peak, and I’m still swooning. If you’ve been dreaming about golden hour aspen family photos in Utah, this sweet family of three is pure inspiration!

Why Golden Hour Is Magic in the Aspens
Aspens already glow in the fall, but when the sun drops low behind the hillside, the whole canyon lights up. Golden hour gives soft, warm light on faces, no harsh squinting, and a dreamy backlight through the leaves. I always plan fall aspen sessions around that last hour of sun so we can catch every bit of it.

Little Moments with the Whole Family
With one little one, a session can be relaxed and playful. We walked the trail, held hands, and squeezed in for big hugs. This little girl wrapping her arms around both of her parents on the gravel road is one of my favorite frames of the whole fall season.

Curls, Giggles, and Golden Light
Her curly red-blonde hair against the yellow aspens? I couldn’t get enough. I always give kids a few minutes on their own to be silly and show their personality, and she totally lit up the camera.

Time for Mom and Dad
I love grabbing a few snuggly photos of mom with her girl, plus a quiet moment for mom and her husband before we wrap up. Those are often the photos parents end up loving most.

Tips for Golden Hour Aspen Family Photos in Utah
This family’s colors were perfect for the aspens: a rust floral dress with maroon Mary Janes on Mom, a teal striped polo with caramel pants on Dad, and a teal dress, gray tights and black boots on their daughter. A few tips:
- Book early. Peak aspen color only lasts a week or two, and golden hour spots fill fast.
- Wear colors that complement gold, like teal, rust, deep green and caramel.
- Plan for the light to fade fast in the canyon, so arrive on time and ready to go.
- Pack comfy shoes for little legs on the trail, and a snack for afterward.
